Remove Duplicate Lines
Paste a list with repeated lines and get back a clean version with each line appearing only once — the first occurrence is kept, later copies are dropped. The tool tells you exactly how many duplicates it removed, which is perfect for cleaning email lists, keyword lists, and survey responses.
How to Use the Duplicate Line Remover
- Paste your list into the first box, one item per line.
- Press Remove Duplicates.
- Read the green message to see how many duplicate lines were removed.
- Press Copy to grab the cleaned list.
Practical example
You exported 2,000 email addresses for a newsletter and suspect some subscribers signed up twice. Paste the list, press the button, and the tool might report “Removed 137 duplicate lines.” — leaving you with a clean list where every address appears exactly once, in its original order. The same trick works for keyword research lists, inventory SKUs, and attendee names.
SEO specialists paste keyword exports from research tools to collapse variants before mapping content, and developers clean log files down to unique error lines before debugging. Because only exact duplicates are removed, near-duplicates stay visible for you to review deliberately rather than being merged silently.
Key features and benefits
- Order preserved: the first occurrence of each line stays exactly where it was; only later copies are removed.
- Duplicate count: you always see how many lines were dropped, so nothing disappears silently.
- Exact matching: lines are compared character-for-character, so “Apple” and “apple” are treated as different entries.
- Fast on big lists: thousands of lines are processed instantly in your browser.
- Private: your data never leaves your device.
- One-click copy: the cleaned list is ready to paste into a spreadsheet or document.
Limitations
Matching is case-sensitive and whitespace-sensitive: “apple” and “Apple ” (with a trailing space) count as different lines. If you need case-insensitive deduping, normalise the case first. Blank lines are treated like any other line — repeated empty lines will be collapsed to one. Extremely large pastes (hundreds of thousands of lines) may be slow on low-end devices. The tool cannot detect near-duplicates like “Jon Smith” versus “John Smith”; those need manual review.
