Coin Flip

Flip a virtual coin with a satisfying animation — perfect for settling debates, picking who goes first, or making quick random yes/no decisions. Heads and tails tallies are kept automatically so you can see the running score, all using fair cryptographic randomness.

How to Use the Coin Flip

  1. Press Flip — the coin spins with a flip animation.
  2. The result lands on Heads or Tails.
  3. The tallies underneath keep a running count of every flip this visit.

Practical example

Two friends cannot agree who picks the movie. One calls “heads”, the other presses Flip — the coin spins and lands on Tails, decision made in two seconds, no arguments. Teachers use it to randomly pick teams, and it is a classic way to break ties fairly when no coin is handy.

For longer sessions the tallies do the bookkeeping for you. Flipping ten times to decide a tournament bracket? The running heads/tails count shows the balance at a glance, and because each flip is independent, a streak of four heads in a row does not make tails “due” — a common misconception called the gambler’s fallacy. Every press of the button is a fresh 50/50 chance.

Key features and benefits

  • Truly 50/50: powered by the Web Crypto API, not a predictable pattern.
  • Flip animation: a smooth spin effect makes it feel like a real toss.
  • Automatic tallies: heads and tails counts update live for longer sessions.
  • Instant and unlimited: flip as many times as you like, no waiting.
  • No coin needed: works on any phone, tablet, or computer — handy when pockets are empty.
  • Private: everything runs locally in your browser; nothing is recorded or uploaded.

Limitations

Tallies reset when you reload or leave the page — there is no saved history. The animation needs a modern browser; on very old ones the result simply appears. Like any random tool, it cannot be used to prove fairness to a third party after the fact, and it is not suitable for gambling or regulated decisions. If you need an auditable random draw (for example, a public raffle), use a dedicated certified service instead.
