Countdown Timer

Count down to any future moment — a product launch, an exam, New Year’s Eve, or the end of the workday. Pick a date and time, press Start, and watch the days, hours, minutes, and seconds tick away live in your browser.

How to Use the Countdown Timer

  1. Click the date field and choose the exact date and time you are counting down to.
  2. Press Start — the timer begins ticking immediately in days, hours, minutes, and seconds.
  3. Press Stop to pause; press Start again (now labelled Resume) to continue from where you left off.
  4. Press Reset to clear everything and pick a new target.
  5. When the countdown reaches zero you will see “Time’s up!” and hear a double beep.

Practical example

Suppose your flight departs on 20 December at 14:30. Select that date and time and press Start. The display might read 41:06:22:10 — 41 days, 6 hours, 22 minutes, 10 seconds until departure. Leave the tab open and you will be alerted the moment it hits zero, which is handy for timed online sales, auction endings, or live event start times.

Key features and benefits

  • Precise to the second: the display updates four times per second, so the seconds never appear to jump or lag.
  • Pause and resume: stopping the timer freezes the remaining time instead of losing it.
  • Audible alert: a clear double beep plays when time runs out, even if you are looking at another tab.
  • No sign-up, nothing installed: runs entirely in your browser and works offline once the page has loaded.
  • Long countdowns supported: the day counter handles targets months or years away.

Limitations

The timer keeps running only while the page stays open — closing the tab or reloading stops it, since the target is not saved. For countdowns longer than a day, your computer going to sleep may pause the updates; the timer recovers when the device wakes. The beep needs your device’s sound turned on and, on some mobile browsers, a tap first to unlock audio.
