Dice Roller
Roll virtual dice for board games, RPGs, or classroom activities β choose 1 to 6 dice and pick from d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, or d20. Every roll uses your device’s cryptographic random generator, so results are fair and unpredictable. Watch them tumble, then see each die and the total.
How to Use the Dice Roller
- Set how many dice to roll (1β6).
- Choose the die type β d6 for classic board games, d20 for D&D-style RPGs, and so on.
- Press Roll and watch the dice tumble for a moment.
- The result shows each individual die plus the total, e.g. “π² 4 + 6 = 10”.
Practical example
Your Dungeons & Dragons character attacks with advantage: set 2 dice and d20, press Roll, and you might get “π² 17 + 8 = 25” β take the higher, 17. For a board game needing two six-sided dice, leave the defaults and roll; no more dice lost under the sofa.
Teachers use it for probability lessons β roll 2d6 fifty times and watch the totals cluster around 7, a perfect live demo of the bell curve. Party game hosts use a d20 to pick a random challenge number, and writers use a d100 substitute (two d10s, read as tens and units) for random tables.
Key features and benefits
- Fair randomness: uses the Web Crypto API, far less predictable than basic random functions.
- RPG-ready dice: d4 through d20 covers D&D, Pathfinder, and most tabletop systems.
- Individual + total: see every die, not just the sum β important for advantage rolls and drop-lowest rules.
- Rolling animation: a quick tumble effect makes it feel like real dice.
- No sign-up: instant, unlimited rolls.
- Up to 6 dice: enough for fireball damage (8d6 needs two rolls) and most board games.
Limitations
Maximum 6 dice per roll β larger pools need multiple rolls. The tool cannot enforce game-specific rules like “drop the lowest” or exploding dice; apply those yourself from the individual results. As a fun tool it is not certified for gambling or any regulated use. Results are random, so there is no way to re-roll history or prove a past roll to someone else. Keep the tab open β reloading clears the last result.
