Favicon Generator

Turn any image into a complete favicon set in your browser – crisp 16×16, 32×32, and 48×48 PNGs for browser tabs plus a 180×180 icon for Apple touch devices. Everything is generated locally; nothing is uploaded to Utilzivo.

How to Use the Favicon Generator

  1. Choose a source image – a simple logo or icon with bold shapes works best at tiny sizes.
  2. Press Generate Favicons.
  3. Preview each size exactly as it will appear: 16×16 (browser tab), 32×32 (taskbar and bookmarks), 48×48 (shortcuts), and 180×180 (Apple touch icon).
  4. Download each PNG with its own link. The files are named clearly, e.g. favicon-32×32.png.
  5. Upload the files to your website’s root folder and reference them in your HTML head with link rel=”icon” tags.

Practical example

You designed a logo for a new blog and want it in the browser tab. Choose the logo file and press Generate Favicons. The 16×16 preview shows how it looks at real tab size – if it is too detailed to read, simplify the logo and regenerate. Download the set, upload the files, and add two lines of HTML: one pointing at favicon-32×32.png and one apple-touch-icon line pointing at the 180×180 file.

Key features and benefits

  • Four standard sizes: 16, 32, 48, and 180 pixels – the set every modern site needs.
  • True-size previews: see the 16×16 icon at actual size before you ship it.
  • Smart center-crop: non-square images are cropped from the center so the subject stays framed.
  • Local processing: your logo never leaves your device.
  • Separate downloads: grab the whole set or just the sizes you need.

Limitations

Output is PNG only. The legacy .ico container format is not generated here – convert the 32×32 PNG with any free PNG-to-ICO tool if you need favicon.ico for very old browsers. Extremely detailed images become unreadable at 16×16; simplify the design first. Transparency in the source is preserved.

Frequently asked questions

  • Where do I put the favicon files? Upload them to your website’s main folder, then add <link rel=”icon”> tags in your page head pointing at each file, plus an apple-touch-icon line for the 180×180 PNG.
  • Do I still need favicon.ico? Modern browsers accept PNG favicons. Only very old browsers need the .ico container – convert the 32×32 PNG if you must support them.
  • Why does my 16×16 icon look muddy? Fine detail disappears at tiny sizes. Simplify the artwork – bold shapes and two or three colors read best.
