PDF Watermark

Add a text watermark to every page of a PDF – mark drafts as “DRAFT”, label documents “CONFIDENTIAL”, or stamp your brand across each page. The watermark is drawn directly into the PDF in your browser; nothing is uploaded to Utilzivo.

How to Use the PDF Watermark Tool

  1. Choose the PDF file you want to stamp.
  2. Type the watermark text – keep it short for the best look, e.g. “DRAFT” or “CONFIDENTIAL”.
  3. Pick a position. The diagonal-across-center style is the classic watermark look; corner positions work well for subtle labels.
  4. Choose a text size and drag the opacity slider. Around 20-40% keeps the text readable without hiding the content underneath.
  5. Press Add Watermark and download the stamped PDF.

Practical example

You are sharing a price proposal with a client but want to make clear it is not final. Choose the proposal PDF, type “DRAFT”, keep the diagonal position and medium size, set opacity to about 30%, and press Add Watermark. Every page now carries a light diagonal “DRAFT” stamp – professional, hard to miss, and it does not obscure the numbers underneath.

Key features and benefits

  • Eight positions: diagonal center plus all four corners, top/bottom centers, and a horizontal center option.
  • Adjustable opacity: from a faint 5% hint to a bold 95% stamp.
  • Auto-sized text: the watermark scales to each page’s dimensions, so mixed-size documents look consistent.
  • Local processing: your document never leaves your device.
  • Permanent stamp: the text becomes part of the PDF pages, visible in any PDF reader.

Limitations

The watermark uses a standard Helvetica typeface; custom fonts are not supported. Very long text may overflow small pages – keep watermarks under about 30 characters. Opacity below 15% can be nearly invisible when printed. The stamp is drawn over page content, so it cannot be placed behind existing text. Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can a watermark be removed later? The stamp becomes part of the page content, so it cannot be cleanly removed afterward. Always keep a copy of the original PDF before watermarking.
  • Which font is used? A standard Helvetica typeface, available in every PDF reader, so the watermark looks the same everywhere.
  • Will the watermark show when printed? Yes. It is drawn onto the pages themselves, so it appears on screen, in print, and in any exported copy.
