Utilzivo

PDF Compressor

Reduce PDF file size directly in your browser. Your PDF stays on your device while the tool processes it.

How to Use the PDF Compressor

  1. Select a PDF from your device.
  2. Choose Light, Balanced, or Strong compression.
  3. Press Compress PDF and wait for processing to finish.
  4. If the new file is smaller, download the compressed PDF.

Practical example

If you have a 12 MB scanned PDF that is too large to email, Balanced compression can reduce image detail and file size while keeping the pages readable. The exact result depends on the images, fonts, and other resources already stored in the document.

Key features and benefits

  • Browser-based processing: the selected document is processed on your device rather than uploaded to Utilzivo.
  • Three compression choices: use Light for better visual quality, Balanced for everyday use, or Strong when a smaller file matters more.
  • Honest size reporting: a download is offered only when the generated PDF is actually smaller.
  • Simple workflow: no account or software installation is required.

Limitations

This compressor rebuilds PDF pages from rendered page images. As a result, selectable or searchable text, hyperlinks, form fields, annotations, layers, and other interactive PDF features may be flattened or lost in the compressed copy. Keep your original file. PDFs that are already optimized may not become smaller, and large documents can take longer or use more device memory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my PDF uploaded to Utilzivo?

No. The compressor is designed to process the selected PDF locally in your browser.

Which compression level should I choose?

Balanced is a good starting point for most documents. Choose Light when visual quality is more important, or Strong when reducing file size is the priority.

Why did my PDF not get smaller?

The original may already be optimized, or rebuilding its pages may not produce a smaller file. In that case the tool avoids presenting a misleading compressed download.

Will text and links remain interactive?

Not necessarily. Because pages are rendered and rebuilt, text can become image-based and interactive elements such as links or forms may be lost.

Should I keep the original PDF?

Yes. Always keep the original, especially when the document contains searchable text, forms, links, signatures, annotations, or other important features.
