Image Converter
Convert images between common web formats in your browser without uploading them to Utilzivo.
Supported image formats
Use JPG, PNG or WebP as the source and convert it to JPG, PNG or WebP. Transparent areas become non-transparent when converting to JPG.
Choosing the right image format
JPG is commonly useful for photographs because it can keep file sizes relatively small, but it does not preserve transparency. PNG is useful for logos, screenshots and graphics that need transparent areas or crisp edges. WebP is a modern web format that can provide efficient files for many photos and graphics in browsers and websites.
What changes during conversion?
Converting a file changes its encoding format, not the visual subject of the image. Converting a transparent PNG to JPG removes transparency because JPG does not support an alpha channel. Repeated lossy conversions can also reduce image quality, so keep the original file when quality matters.
Practical example
If a website accepts only JPG but your photo is WebP, choose the WebP file, select JPG and convert it. If you have a PNG logo with transparency and want to preserve that transparency, convert to WebP or keep PNG rather than choosing JPG.
Privacy
Image conversion happens locally in your browser, so the selected image does not need to be uploaded to Utilzivo for this conversion.
Frequently asked questions
Does converting an image make it smaller?
Sometimes, but not always. File size depends on the source image, dimensions, format and encoding. This tool is a format converter rather than a guaranteed compressor.
Will PNG transparency survive JPG conversion?
No. JPG does not support transparent pixels.
Does conversion change image dimensions?
The converter keeps the source canvas dimensions; use the Image Resizer when you specifically need different pixel dimensions.
Should I keep my original image?
Yes. Keep the original when you may need maximum quality, transparency, metadata or another conversion later.
